Mark Baumann has been our Minister of Faith Formation since July 2000. His areas of involvement at Zion include Sunday School, adult Christian education, confirmation, the library, Vacation Bible School, the nursery, Milestone Ministry, adult catchumenate and supervising the youth and family ministries of the congregation. Mark has been involved in Christian education for more than a decade and church ministry for more than twenty years. He has led workshops throughout the country on various topics of ministry and has written curriculum and articles. Mark is passionate about faith development for people of all ages, especially in the home, and is a proponent of the concepts and strategies embraced by the Youth and Family Institute. Mark loves to interact with people of all ages and empowering them for ministry.

Mark and his wife Marcia have three active daughters – Maria (18), Meghann (18), and Meredith (12). In addition, they care for Mickey and Maisie, their two basset hounds. Mark likes to play games, cook, and work with flowers. In addition to his duties at Zion, he is the coordinator for the Leadership Program for Musicians for the Southeastern Iowa Synod, Saturday Cantor/Organist at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Organist/Director of Music at Temple Judah, both in Cedar Rapids. Mark also operates a music studio in their home.
