Zion's structure is based on Coordination and Ministry Teams. Coordination Teams have been developed under three core areas of ministry: Worship, Faith Formation and Outreach.. The Church Council serves as the fourth Coordination Team, responsible primarily for finance, personnel, property and visioning/planning. Coordination teams monitor the development of ministry teams, along with staff members. These teams facilitate communication between ministry teams and the congregation, brainstorming for new ministries and supporting new team start-up, plus advocating for their area and articulating the vision of the congregation. Ministry Teams are developed when congregation members have an idea they would like to implement. An application is completed which includes questions geared toward the ministry team and how it will help accomplish Zion's mission. Teams will determine how they will carry out their ministry without seeking approval through a hierarchical system. Each team is accountable to the mission and vision of the congregation. Teams will be responsible for communicating what they are doing with the Coordination Team to which they relate. Each ministry team is encouraged to operate autonomously.
