Serving Our Members

Angels in Aprons
We donate, prepare, and deliver our home-cooked meals to people in their homes in these situations:

  • Recovering from surgery or serious illness and cannot cook
  • Celebrating the birth of a baby
  • Mourning the loss of a loved one, with a meal to celebrate that person’s life.
  • Any other situation noted and requested by the pastors

Who are the Angels in Aprons?

  • We are members (mostly women) of Zion who volunteer by responding to emails about  in need.
  • We don’t have assigned weeks or months; we help out when we can.
  • We simply respond to the email requests whenever it’s a good time for us to take our turn to prepare and deliver a meal.
  • Join Angels in Aprons by adding your name and email address to the list of members.   You are most welcome to join us at any time.

Contact Sherry Carpenter at 319-351-1845 or shercarp@yahoo.com; Shelly Brenner at 319-351-2344 or snbrenner@gmail.com if you would like to request a meal for yourself or for someone in need.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
You may have received a knitted or crocheted shawl as you experienced a difficult time in your life.  These comforting shawls are hand-made by the Prayer Shawl Ministry group.  This group of ladies (at present, no gentlemen have joined us) meets at Zion during the morning of the second Tuesday of each month.  Our fellowship includes coffee, conversation, sometimes instruction, and making of prayer shawls. The shawls are usually distributed by Zion staff members as needs arise. Call the church office to volunteer!

We invite you to pick up a needle or two and join our efforts. Yarn can be provided.
